The LPGA tour will be bringing the world-renowned 2014 RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup to Phoenix Arizona during March 20th to March 23rd. The tournament will be held on the green of the Wildfire Golf Club at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in North Phoenix Arizona, a premier North Phoenix hotel and resort.
The RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup was created to honor the 13 women who started the LPGA in 1950 over 60 years ago. Since 2011 the LPGA Founders Cup has raised over $1 million for the Girls Golf Program allowing Girls Golf to add over 30 new sites.
The tournament has been expanded to a four-day, 72-hole format, and will have 132 of the world’s top ranking women golfers, all competing for pride, a $1.5 million purse with $225,000 going to the champion. Last year Stacy Lewis put on a stellar performance and won the cup and with her final round of 64 became the No. 1 LPGA Player in the World, donating $50,000 of her winnings to the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program.
