Below are Desert Ridge Marketplace events for the month of October 2013. But with all that takes place in the Desert Ridge Marketplace and in the general Desert Ridge area, you have to spend time there to really capitalize on all that Desert Ridge has to offer.
Southwest Surfers

Beach Boys Tribute Band – The Southwest Surfers are a Beach Boys tribute band, oldies band and surf band. Able to provide a wide variety of live music services performing oldies music, surf music, and a energetic tribute to the Beach Boys. Their Beach Boys tribute will include all the favorites: Barbara Ann, Help Me Ronda, Surfin’USA, Surfin’ Safari, Kokomo and more. Their oldies songs include: Runaway, Runaround Sue, Hang on Sloopy, Do You Love Me, Old Time Rock and Roll and many other dance favorites. Come on out and rock the night away with The Southwest Surfers!

Easy Listening Keyboardist – Grady Soiné of Gradymusic has delighted fans worldwide with his unique style of piano/keyboard music. Grady is an accomplished composer/pianist who’s other passion is bringing ideas to life and helping others accomplish their dreams.
Ratio

Funk, Soul, Jazz and R&B Band – Ratio is one of Phoenix, Arizona’s premier bands specializing in Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, Funk and Pop. Recognized as the “Best Jazz Band in Phoenix” by the Phoenix New Times Magazine and the “Best Blues Band” by the Arizona Republic, this versatile band led by founder Larry Rhymes is comprised of some of the best musicians in Phoenix. Their repertoire contains 60’s and 70’s Funk, 80’s Jams, Smooth Jazz, Classic Soul and Motown.
Dani Zubia

Indie Guitarist – Dani Zubia is a self-taught musician. She plays guitar, mandolin, bass, harmonica and piano. Although she was born into a family of musicians, it is by her own self-taught determination that she has become a serious musician and songwriter. Dani Zubia has been playing guitar and writing songs since she was 11 or 12 years old. After moving to the beach in Los Angeles and then to Kona, Hawaii for a couple of years. Dani came back to Phoenix, enrolled at Metro Arts Institute High School in Downtown Phoenix and got real serious about songwriting and playing. Dani has been playing “out” for the past year – most notably opening for the Pistoleros & Dead Hot Workshop Christmas Eve 2012 to a sold out Crescent Ballroom crowd. Dani is currently writing and recording what will be her debut record, set to be released sometime this Summer 2013. There are tracks already recorded and they sound awesome. Dani is also studying film & photography, she’s reading everything she gets her hands on and has a trip to Europe planned for March 2014. Stay tuned for more. Dani is 15 years old. The future is hers for the taking! Her father Lawrence Zubia & Uncle Mark Zubia front The Pistoleros, a band that has been playing in the Valley for the last 20 years. Dani’s grandfather Raul Zubia was a Mariachi musician for 40 years in the Valley – Mariachi Loco.
Peppermint James

Original and Top 40 Alternative Band – Peppermint James was formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 2004. With strong influence from The Beatles, The Wailers, traditional jazz and blues artists, and many outstanding world musicians, the sound of Peppermint James continually evolves with a no limits attitude towards songwriting and arranging. Peppermint James continues their busy schedule of energetic live performances, released their sophomore album and is looking forward to sharing their music on a continuously larger scale.
Blues Legend Hans Olson

Blues Guitarist/Vocalist – Hans Olson is a veteran performing musician with over 40 years in the music business. He began his career as a lead singer in a Rock & Roll band in Southern California in 1967. By 1970, Hans had developed a very unique and powerful solo act. He plays an amplified acoustic guitar and harmonica. He is known as one of the best “harp-in-a-rack” players in the world. Hans’ singing is very powerful. His voice is comfortable singing many styles of music ranging from mellow folk ballads to growling boogie blues.

Indie Guitarist/Vocalist – Being a daughter of 60’s musical artist Melanie, Jeordie’s music gives deep & friendly advice on a sultry rock, melodic platform. Her style is a blend of modern pop themes and folk rock guitar. She has a catalog of music that ranges from upbeat and positive to introspective and melancholy and has the ability to create visual imagery, through her lyrics, melodies and performances.
SUEDE

Soul, Funk and R&B Band – SUEDE is a cover dance band that was founded by vocalist ‘Missie’ & drummer Chris Strong in Phoenix in 2010. With their combination of musical talent and style of entertaining, SUEDE has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. Genres include R&B, pop, country, rock, funk & everything in between. They are sure to have you dancing from start to finish.
Tony Putrino

Accordionist Extraordinaire – Tony Putrino has written, arranged and performed music since childhood, beginning with the accordion at the age of seven. He later expanded his abilities to include keyboards, as well. His first love has always been jazz. That, combined with the influence of contemporary pop music, created in him a unique approach to accordion playing. Hearing his blend of jazz, R&B, rock ‘n roll, romantic Europe and the avant–garde is, to be sure, a different experience for aficionados of traditional accordion repertoire.

Country Western Band – Anyone who is a live country music fan in Arizona has heard of Mary Hoffman! She has been playing music around Arizona for over 10 years and is still one of Arizona’s best vocalists. Mixing in originals and covers (everything from Carrie Underwood’s, Before he Cheats to Bruno Mars’, Grenade), Mary takes live music to a whole new level. “Every show I do…I put everything into it! I want people to have as much fun as I do! I just love playing music!” she says.
Radio Disney presents Malloween!

Rachel Brown

Alternative Singer/Songwriter – Rachel Brown is a 17 year-old singer-songwriter born here in Arizona. Music has been her passion ever since she was 5 years old. Rachel started playing piano, would sing all the time, and got involved with musical theater. At the age of 14 Rachel taught herself guitar and has loved it ever since. She began playing gigs around town when she turned 15 and absolutely loves any chance to share her music with anybody who’ll listen. Her playlist ranges from artists such as Sara Bareilles to Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. Of course it’s all mixed with her original music, which has become the bulk of what she play at her shows. Rachel looks forward to the opportunity to perform at the Marketplace and share her music with one and all.
